ENSEP SEWAGE TREATMENT SYSTEM

Description of the demonstration:

This 5 KLD unit was installed in April 2019 at the Baima Treatment Plant in Luzhou, Sichuan, China.

The ensep System is contained in a hopper made from durable high-density polyethylene. The hopper houses the membrane coil, spray nozzle and associated plumbing. At the base of the hopper is a small reservoir that collects water and sludge from the coil above. Vents at the top and around the middle of the hopper allow air to move in and out of the hopper, providing oxygen for the bio-film.

The ensep System has been paired with a filter media cartridge to further remove fine sediment and dissolved pollutants.

The composition of the influent varied greatly from one day to the next.

The Enviss media cartridge was helpful in evening out the performance of the ensep System when it was treating effluent similar to dirty stormwater.

CHART – TREATMENT PERFORMANCE VS WATER QUALITY STANDARDS

Description of the demonstration：

The ensep System reduced the COD, nutrient and sediment levels in wastewater to meet the targets.
A detention time of 2 hours was sufficient for the system to effectively reduce the levels of COD, TSS and nutrients.
The use of an Enviss filter media after the ensep System proved to be effective to further reduce the nutrient and sediment levels.
The ensep System is easy to install and operate in rural areas of China.

The system operates continuously or in a batch mode controlled by a programmable logic controller. The system treated approximately 420 litres of effluent as a batch over a period of 1 hour or 2 hours.

After treating a batch, the PLC discharges the treated water through the solenoid valve and refills the system. The treated water can then be discharged from the ensep reservoir to the filter cartridge to further enhance removal of fine sediment and dissolved pollutants.
